Level 3 Final Reflection: New Uses for the Brain Evolution System

Hi all! Been a while since I last updated the blog. Things have been going well with BrainEv- on days when I use it (most days) I notice a better ability to focus throughout the day, emotional renewal, more vivid dreams, and a slightly decreased need for sleep.

One thing I wanted to talk about as I near the end of Level 3 is that I’ve begun combining BrainEv with other personal development work I’ve been doing, specifically visualization practice. Since Levels 2 and 3 of BrainEv are particularly suited to facilitating vivid imagery and visualization, while I’m lying down and relaxing into my practice session is the perfect time to visualize goals I’d like to accomplish.

Although I’m not noticing any amazing states of mind from Level 3, I have no doubt that I’m still getting benefits daily from using Brain Evolution System. By combining it with other personal development work, I make it all the more worth my while. One thing I should experiment with as I near the end of Level 3 is varying the time of day at which I practice, to see if that brings me any different effects. Otherwise, I look forward to Level 4 beginning soon!

Level 3, Days 1-3: Solid Start to the New Level!

Welcome to Level 3! I have to say, I’m super excited for this one. Even in just the first days of using it, I’m noticing that I get really locked in to the brainwaves which is awesome, come out of each session very well without feeling groggy, and I think Level 3 is having some effects on my sleep cycles as well, but I want to wait and observe that more before I comment on it too much.

One thing I find very interesting is that the minor tier brainwaves peak at beta for a while- I’m noticing that it takes me a little while longer to go really deep- about 10-15min of the session, but then I suddenly get very deep, and come out smoothly at the end of the session.

Level 3 apparently can cause a lot of visualization, which isn’t necessarily something that I’ve experienced yet, but I’ve found that it causes the same non-logic-checked thought patterns that I seem to have while I fall asleep, which is interesting. My dreams continue to be very vivid and easily memorable- no instances of lucidity recently though.

Overall, I’d say that so far Level 3 is very enjoyable- much more like Level 1 than Level 2. It’s different, which is refreshing, and my brain seems to adapt very well to the brainwaves (maybe because there’s a different audio technology used in this level, I dunno).

Definitely looking forward to the next 28 days!!

Level 2, Day 28: Vivid Dreams Return

Whoo! I only have 2 more days of practice and 1 day of reflection before I move on to Level 3- wow. This continues to be a really exciting journey for me, and I feel like I’m making good progress on my goal to start a lifelong love/habit of meditation.

Now that I’ve been practicing with the brainwaves a little more consistently again, I’m noticing a lot of the same things coming back into the picture: my brain is following the intended curves of the brainwaves a lot more closely (I come out of a deep state of mind at the end, guided by the brainwaves). I’m entering deep states of mind and staying there even in noisier environments. Also, most interestingly, my dreams are becoming very vivid again and my dream recall has improved again.

I haven’t noticed any lucidity in these dreams like I did a few weeks ago, but I bet that will come with a couple more days of practice. I think the effects of Level 2 on my dreams is absolutely fascinating.

Seeing as I’m getting really close, I’m very curious as to what Level 3 will effect in terms of my dreams, sleep paralysis, etc. We’ll see soon enough!

Level 2, Days 19-20: Sleep Practice

Life has been so incredibly busy lately, but I figured sleep practice and being exposed to the brainwaves is better than no practice, so I’ve done this two nights in a row now. It usually takes me 10-15 minutes of the audio to completely fall asleep.

The interesting thing about Level 2 sleep practice compared to Level 1 is that it leaves me in a very deep sleep, whereas Level 1 usually brought me out just enough so that I took my headphones out before falling asleep completely.

I remember having pretty vivid dreams last night, but believe it or not my dream recall is worse than usual. This might just be because I was so exhausted last night/this morning. Being well rested and getting plenty of sleep definitely helps my dream recall improve.

Tonight I’ll have a chance to relax and get a normal practice session in- that should help both my BrainEv practice, AND my dream recall as well.

Level 2, Days 17-18: Re-acclimation

As I’ve been getting back on track with consistent BrainEv practice, I feel like I’ve been getting re-acclimated to the brainwaves after not using them much for a week or two. Although I’m not reaching the amazing states that I was in Days 12-14, I’m experiencing deep relaxation and some interesting effects (on Day 17, my sense of time was way off- I felt like I had been under for 30min+ when really I was only 15min in!)

Based on my experiences thus far, I’d say that BrainEv definitely works best when you’re using it regularly- as close to daily as possible. When I’m regularly practicing with it, I notice that I have better emotional control of myself, need less sleep, and have very vivid dreams- three effects that all sound pretty beneficial to me.

As I continue with the final half of Level 2, I’ll continue building a solid foundation from which Level 3 can start exploring, and also hopefully get some of the more interesting/unique experiences that I’ve gotten a peek at like sleep paralysis and lucid dreaming.

Level 2, Days 12-14: New Mental State Unlocked!

Hey folks- sorry it’s been a few days since I’ve blogged! Days 12 and 13 were pretty standard sleep practice- it would take me a few minutes, but once I was under I drifted off to sleep pretty easily and never even woke up at the end of the session to get my headphones/phone out of bed.

Today was a really awesome practice- out of all my BrainEv practice sessions thus far I think it was the most interesting mental state I’ve attained yet.

I laid down for my practice feeling pretty tired, thinking that today’s session might just turn into a nap. I was using my nice big headphones (Sennheiser HD-205s), and had the volume on a little louder than usual. My mind started off a bit busy, and thoughts gradually shifted into those sorts of odd visualizations that I have before sleep- nonsensical, sometimes funny, and as one commenter here has pointed out, maybe a gateway into lucid dreaming. They weren’t particularly vivid or memorable today, but they were present and I was aware of them.

Something interesting happened though- midway through the session, I definitely wasn’t asleep, but I was still aware at some level. Usually when I reach the deepest parts of the session, I’m not even aware at that point, I’m pretty much unconscious. Today, I maintained some degree of consciousness, which was very interesting!

That effect, though, was in strongest force AFTER the session had ended- I decided that since I had been feeling tired and hadn’t fallen asleep during practice that I would just stay right where I was and nap for a bit. Except…I still didn’t fully fall asleep. My physical body was completely shut down, I felt like I couldn’t move (although I didn’t really try to/want to), but my mind was still somewhat conscious! Not fully, but I was definitely present. It was a strange sensation, I felt like my mind was separate/detached from my body, almost like a vague out of body experience. I stayed there just relaxing/vaguely thinking/napping for 15 minutes, although it felt like much longer.

At any rate, it was a fascinating sensation that made my practice all the more interesting today. I do feel like BrainEv is opening me up to those same levels of mind that are used in things like lucid dreaming or out of body experiences, so I’m even more excited now to continue progressing with it!

Level 2, Day 11: Best Level 2 Practice thus far!

Today I had definitely the best Level 2 practice that I’ve had so far. One potential reason that it went so well and I didn’t fall asleep: I drank a soda ~20 minutes before my practice. I think having some caffeine in my system kept me from falling asleep, without having so much caffeine in me that it negatively impacted my practice.

Interestingly enough, I saw a return to the form of my good Level 1 practice sessions: My mind was decently active for about the first 10 minutes of practice, then I went into a deep state of relaxation and quiet mind for 15 minutes, and then the brainwaves accurately started to bring me out and into a more conscious level of awareness for the last 5 minutes.

I felt so refreshed and was in such a deep state of mind that I had to open my eyes as I was coming out, because I wasn’t sure if I had accidentally let the track repeat! Sure enough, there were only 3 minutes left in the program, and it was right about time that the brainwaves should be pulling me out.

I count today as a major success, and by far the best I’ve felt using Level 2. This is pretty encouraging to me, and I look forward to watching my progress as the level progresses!

Level 2, Day 10: Afternoon Nap

I didn’t sleep very well last night- my dreams were bothering me to the point where I decided to just wake up early, even though it was the weekend and I was looking forward to sleeping. So, when it came time after lunch to lay down and do my BrainEv practice, I knew there was a pretty good chance that I’d end up falling asleep.

Sure enough, I did! hahaha

At this point, I’m not too upset about falling asleep, because it’s been hard enough to do during Level 2. Obviously, after this week I’m hoping to adjust to the brainwaves and schedule my practice sessions better so that I don’t fall asleep so much, but for now I’m okay with it.

I was awake for probably the first 5 minutes of the session, and then I stayed asleep for a good 10-20min after the audio ended. I didn’t wake up feeling super refreshed, I was still a bit groggy, but now I’m back on my feet and going again.

Hopefully tomorrow’s practice will be more conscious and deliberate and I’ll have more exciting news to share!

Level 2, Day 8: Easy Going

I honestly don’t have too much to report about this session- it was great. I put my headphones on, laid down, and was out a few minutes later.

If I fell asleep, then the brainwaves worked perfectly and I came out of my trance with exactly a minute left in the audio. However, I think I was actually just in a deep state of mind, because I do remember being aware that my roommate had come home somewhere in the middle of my practice.

This is awesome! I think I just had my first really successful session with Level 2, and it did indeed feel like an even deeper state of mind than Level 1. Like I said though, maybe I just fell asleep and I’m crazy hahaha. Tomorrow will tell!

Level 2, Day 6: From Stressed to Sleep

Today’s practice was kind of interesting, seeing as Level 2 has been posing problems for me in terms of being able to get mentally relaxed.

Shortly (~15 minutes) before I did my BrainEv practice, a situation popped up that made me very stressed- totally activated my “flight or fight” response and sent a surge of adrenaline pumping through me. So when I started the practice, my first priority was slowing down my breathing and getting physically relaxed.

And I got that under control within a few minutes, and mental relaxation came by the time I was about 10 minutes in. Then before I knew it, I was halfway through the audio and falling asleep! Guess I got a little too relaxed 😛

I did wake up a minute or two after the end of the audio, and then decided I’d stay and rest for another 10 minutes. Interesting practice 😛
