As BrainEv’s brainwave developer Michael Kelley says in the Level 2 video, “Level 2 is designed to increase your ability to deal with situations that interfere with your calm and focus”, and boy was that true for my last Level 2 practice last night- I practiced with my roommate and his friend watching TV semi-loudly in the same room! Obviously not ideal, but it was the only time I could get my practice in, and sure enough, after some initial struggling, I did reach a deep state of relaxation and didn’t notice the TV after the first 10 minutes or so.
My dreams have continued to be very vivid as I’ve been more consistent with my practice, which I find to be an enjoyable and interesting side effect.
As I reviewed my Level 2 posts, I can see the progress that I’m making over time. It’s remarkable to me how easy it is to use Level 2 now compared to the first week of using it. I’m also noticing a lot more coming out of my BrainEv sessions, like the visualizations and vivid dreams. I revisited my goals list from the end of Level 1, and wanted to reword/re-prioritize them a bit, as well as write how I think things are going with each:
Decrease stress levels and increase “being in a ‘flow state’” in my everyday life – I definitely feel a decrease in stress levels when using BrainEv, so progress is being made here!
Enable and support positive rewiring and reprogramming of my brain – I also feel like BrainEv is helping me make major strides on this goal as well
Reach and explore new, deeper states of relaxation and mind – Starting to get into this with the visualization/vivid dreams, and the sleep paralysis I experienced that one day. Hopefully Level 3 will bring more of this!
Open a new channel of awareness and free myself from my mind by “watching the thinker” (see Eckhart Tolle’s “The Power of Now”) – Can’t say I’ve focused much on this at all. Should do so moving forward.
Begin and boost a lifelong love and daily practice of meditation – This is starting to take shape!
Overall, Level 2 was an encouraging and fun experience, even though it took me WAYYYY too long to complete. Tomorrow I’m starting Level 3- can’t wait!!!
Wow! Been almost two weeks since I’ve blogged- sorry for the hiatus! I really need to get back on track with my BrainEv practice, and although I’ve done two sessions past when I should have paused for reflection, I figured I’d write my “weekly” reflection up here first, and then my blog posts will just jump forward to Day 17.
As I look back over all of my Level 2 posts thus far, I’m noticing a couple different things:
There was a major improvement in the effects I experienced from Week 1 to Week 2
My best sessions come when I’ve been using BrainEv consistently and as close to daily as possible
When I’m having good BrainEv sessions, it greatly helps my emotional/mental states throughout the day
For the last week or two, I got super busy and stopped doing a lot of the daily habits that have helped me be successful, like my BrainEv practice. I’ve run into some challenging moments and less-than-ideal days lately, so I know that I need to make a renewed effort to practice BrainEv as close to daily as possible.
So, I’ll be moving forward keeping in mind that need for a renewed effort, and I’m also just excited to see what else Level 2 brings me. The last blog post I made had me unlocking new states of mind, which was very exciting, and seeing as Level 2 is still just “skill building” and “introductory”, I can’t imagine what Levels 3-7 can bring me!
Seeing as today marked the end of my first “week” with the Brain Evolution System, it was time to take an intentional day off from using the audio and instead spend my daily 30 minutes in self-reflection. I first reflected on my goals for using the program, then spent 10 minutes in silent meditation, and then sat down to write this blog post and some other personal writings on my progress so far.
Here are the goals I came up with for using the BrainEv system:
Begin and boost a lifelong love and daily practice of meditation
Decrease stress levels and increase “being in a ‘flow state’” in my everyday life
Enable and support positive rewiring and reprogramming of my brain
Reach and explore new, deeper states of mind
Increase/enhance cognitive functioning
These self-reflection days will be especially great if I use them to practice longer and longer periods of silent mindfulness meditation. Right now 10 minutes seems like a long time and I get frustrated with how pervasive my thoughts are, but after 6 months of practice I’m sure that I’ll get very good at it, plus I’ll have developed a habit where EVERY DAY I spend 30 minutes to myself in some sort of meditative state.
Otherwise, I think my biggest challenge moving forward will be staying consistent in my practice, which I have full faith that I can. It wasn’t an INCREDIBLE first week, but I feel encouraged, and think that plenty of amazing things lie ahead not just in the next week, or even Level 1, but in the entire program.
